Authoress note: I guess you can
say that this is another one-shot side story to Constellation:Vega.
However, the setting is current time, unlike Pact, which
occurs in the past. I think this will be filled with the random
moments that Haru had with the members of the Vega Famiglia over the
years and up until recent.
Summary: Haru smiled as she
looked at the group of people who were sound asleep on the sofa,
undoubtably uncomfortable and cramped. It was moments like this, she
realized, that the Vega guardians were able to be themselves. Side
story to Constellation:Vega.
…
Her
chocolate brown orbs focused on the setting. It was a fairly sized
living room, none to small or too large. There is two arm chairs that
sat on opposite sides of the wooden coffee table, and a long sofa. A
tall bookshelf stood by itself in the corner of the room, and the
curtains to the window were closed. The only light was being
provided by the fireplace. The kitchen was just past the living room
entrance and the bedrooms were upstairs. Overall, the place was a
nice temporary home for the mission. Her eyes settled on the cluster
of people who crowded the couch and arm chairs, and a smile crept on
her face.
'They're are idiots, but
they are my idiots...and you are too.'
That was the last thing that
the Vega Decimo had told her before he joined them in their slumber.
And now it was only the brunette who was awake, watching over the
oh-so powerful guardians of the Vega famiglia as they slept
peacefully. It was a rare sight...to those who hasn't known them for
years. But to the short haired brunette, it was one that brought her
comfort. There was no doubt that the guardians of the Vega are
formidable foes in and out of battle, but the way that they looked
now...it looked as if they could barely hurt a fly. All of them had
such a calm expression, and looked, for once,
unguarded. To say that they are
unguarded would be a mistake. After all, years of being in the mafia
makes you rather highly cautious with where you are and who you
interact with. It was a game of life or death, kill or be killed, in
her opinion.
The Storm Guardian, Kazuki
Vivace, the youngest guardian, was sound asleep on one of the arm
chairs, feet propped up onto the coffee table. He was slouching in
his chair and looked as if he would slip out at any given moment.
One of his arms was slung over the arm of the chair and hung limply
in the air. His dark reddish brown, nearly black, hair was messy with
some strands standing up to to static, his bangs slightly covered the
top of his eyelids. A soft snore was emitting from the 24 year old
male's throat. His box animal, a puppy resembling a golden retriever
was laying on his stomach, also asleep.
…
“Ne, Haru-san, you like
astronomy, right?” A dark haired male asked, standing with her on
the bridge. He had paused in his tracks on their way back to the
cabin to stare up at the night sky. She had told him a while ago that
she loved looking at stars. The girl he was with returned back to his
side when he had stopped walking. And she glanced up at the
constellation he was no doubt looking at. He would always help her
easily find the constellations. It amazed her how quick he is in
finding them.
“Yup~, Haru loves
astronomy, the stars are so pretty desu~”
“If you don't mind my
asking, what is your favorite constellation?”
“Haru wants to say
Taurus desu, because Haru is a Taurus...but Haru says her absolute
favorite is Lyra!” The brunette replied energetically.
“Why Lyra?” The
younger person asked, blushing as she took one of his hands into her
own, in an innocent manner. Her eyes were shining brightly and
reflected her happiness. She smiled at his question, and her grip
tightened lightly on his hand.
“Because of Vega,
silly~ Vega is the brightest star in Lyra desu~ Our family was named
after that star, right? Vega, our famiglia, shines just as bright as
the star!” Haru said, earning a muffled snort from her male
companion. “You're laughing at my answer desu!”
“I am not, you're
imagining things, Haru-san”
“Kazuki-san is a big,
fat meanie!”
...
On the long couch, are the
twins, Rita and Rei Takahashi. The eldest twin, Rita the Mist
Guardian, was laying on her left side, so her back was turned towards
everyone else. She was curled up somewhat, her legs tangled with in
the blanket. The Cloud guardian, Rei, was laying flat on her back,
knees bent so her sister would have room. One of her arms was bent
back so she was resting her head on her hands. The other arm was
wrapped loosely around the Sun guardian's shoulders.
…
“Hahi! What are you
guys doing?”
“Well, Rita and I
decided to make you a cake, to thank you for cooking for us. But,
well...you see, it didn't really turn out as planned. We tried our
best to make the cake like in the book, but we only ended up wasting
the ingredients.” Rei replied, trying to wipe the flour off of her
cheek.
“But that isn't
cake...what you are making right now.”
“We gave up on trying
to make a cake because it always turned out as warm batter soup, so
we tried to make a couple of cupcakes instead. You can see out that
turned out...well, you weren't exactly there, but the cupcakes
exploded in the oven.” Rei paused, “I guess baking isn't really
my sister's and my strongest trait. If it's okay, we'll just cook
you a dinner. Our cooking isn't half bad you know~”
“Why are you trying to
bake something for me?”
“What? We can't treat
you, the newbie, as a family yet?Is there some special ceremony you
want us to hold?” The older twin asked, earning an elbow to the rib
from her younger counterpart. “Damn it, that hurt you dumbass!”
“As I said, it was
supposed to be like a thank you. But also a 'Welcome to Family~'
cake...but I think it'll be a dinner instead~”
…
The Sun Guardian, Takeru
Yoshida, was sitting on the ground, propped up against the front of
the couch. One of his legs was outstretched while the other was bent
due to the coffee table that was pretty much in the way. He didn't
look uncomfortable at all though, as he stayed in the position he
held. His head was resting back on the extra amount of cushion the
wasn't used just yet. He didn't even looked distressed or alert
about the arm that was resting on him, showing how much he trusted
that person not to cause him any physical harm.
The Rain Guardian, Yuki
Himura, was on the last arm chair. Unlike the Storm guardian, he was
not sleeping sitting upright. Instead, he was resting his head on the
arm rest, and his legs were hung over the other side. Of course, it
didn't look at all comfortable to be cramped in such a small arm
chair, but the male refused to sleep on the floor. How he found the
position nice enough to sleep in, the brunette will never know.
…
“I-Is Takeru-san ok?”
Haru asked, looking at the male's bleeding arm. The smokey brown
haired man looked down at her, and merely glanced at the wound
inflicted by the Vega Swordsman. He could feel the blood running
down his arm. She still didn't know the truth by then, even when he
had a distant look in his eyes.
“Hmm? Don't worry about
it too much, Haru-chan, I'm fine” Takeru grinned, “Although, I
did warn you, Yuki, that it's only supposed to be a friendly spar.”
“The enemy isn't going
to go easy on her just because she's a newbie, Takeru, they'll just
take her out in an instant” The other male replied, putting away
his sword at the sight of Takeru's glare.
“When you are under
orders, Yuki, I expect you to follow them. I understand she is still
new, she needs to adjust. I also know that the enemies won't go easy
on her. However, you can't just force her to your level. You've been
fighting for most of your life, while she hasn't. She has yet to
learn and to have a fighting style. Shinji said to first watch over
her to see what would be best suited for her. I can't do that.”
“Yes, just because you
decided to go and mess up that mission” The dark haired male
hissed. He only wanted to bait the older man into releasing the
trainee from his grasp, but the reaction was entirely different. At
first, he had expected the Right hand man of the Vega Decimo to
attack, not the new person, who had only been there for 6 months.
“Don't you dare say
anything bad about Takeru-san, you jerk!” Yuki's eyes widened in
surprise as he noted the green flame of her ring ignite.
…
Lastly was the Sky Guardian,
the Boss of the famiglia, Shinji Suzuki. He, like the Sun guardian,
was propped up against the couch, only on the side of the Mist
Guardian. His position is very similar to Takeru's, only that his
forehead was resting on his left knee. There was no doubt that he'd
have a very sore and stiff neck when he woke up.
…
“Miura, Haru, would you
do me the honor of becoming my Lightening Guardian?”
“Hahi!? Me? Haru has
only been here for 3 years desu! And only been in training for 2 ½
years, Haru isn't strong enough to be Shinji-san's guardian!”
The brunette was
surprised to say the least, when she was called onto the stage and
asked this very important question in front of all the Vega famiglia
members to see. The first six months that she was at the Vega
residence, was endurance and stamina building, and Haru didn't count
that as part of the training years. Soon after the six months, was
when the real training began. Haru was sure she was going to
die in the beginning. It was not was she was accustom to and she
struggled with the regime. Some of the guardians were harsh with
their training program for her.
“We've seen your
progress, Miura, Haru, please consider” The brunette slightly
backed away from the current Boss as he bowed to her, his guardians
and followers copying his actions. She was embarrassed to the point
where she would've fainted. But she needed to give him a response.
She opened her mouth to speak and took in a deep breath
…
After having heard their
names (at first), the Lightening Guardian, Haru Miura, could hardly
believe they had italian blood. None of them had any type of
features that would give away the fact that they are not entirely
japanese. Well, Shinji is a natural blonde, but many people thought
he dyed his hair because he didn't look European at all. Deciding to
stay up a little longer, the brunette looked out the window of the
cabin they were currently staying at. The snow was falling outside,
slowly covering the ground with a thin blanket. It was a perfect
scenery, so peaceful.
“Miura, Haru, why are you
still awake?”
The 24 year old looked at
the guardians again, to see who had spoken and she gaze met amber
yellow. Of course, she could tell by the look in his eyes that he
was only half conscious at the moment, the other half still being in
lala land. The Rain guardian didn't bother to move from his spot, but
he did turn his head to get a better view of what she was doing.
Again, he was only semi-conscious and his movements were sluggish at
moment. He didn't even bother to recover at the normal speed he would
have if someone entered the cabin.
It was moments like this,
she realized, that the Vega guardians were able to be themselves.
Each member trusted each other with their lives. They had grown up
together, lived together for all those years. They were comfortable
enough to let their guards down around one another. At was like a
safety net for them all. In front of others, they had to appear cold,
ruthless, strong, independent. But with each other, they showed
their true selves,...most of them anyway. Miura, Haru noticed that a
long, long time ago.
“I'm going to bed soon,
just thinking about things”
“You'll hurt yourself if
you do, go to sleep, idiot.”
And back to lala land the
Rain Guardian drifted. Haru rolled her eyes at his comment and
yawned. Perhaps she should sleep, after all, she would need the
energy for tomorrow morning. The brunette turned her attention back
to the window. It was most likely still snowing out, and there was a
high possibility of being snowed in...again. She moved from her
position and settled down in the only available spot a the moment.
The heaviness of her eyelids was more noticeable to her now, and
slowly, she let the sleep take over.
…
So, now you get a glimpse of
the present time Vega guardians and Haru recalling her moments with
them. This takes place between the time that they were getting ready
to leave Venice and head to Namimori. Haru notices that the Guardians
have to act differently from when they are around people to when it
was just the guardians themselves. She notes that despite the inner
conflicts that may arise, they pull through and manage to be their
true selves. What would the enemies think if they knew what the
guardians were really like, right? So of course they have to put on
an act, to fool the enemy~
