Summary: “You've served your
propose in life already, there is no more reason for you to extend
your stay. You will remain here.” She did not walk, for the life
of her, she ran as fast as she could from the room.
…
“Please, please, just a
little longer, they still need me here. They still need me with
them!”
A young brunette woman
begged, tears forming in her eyes as she stared up at the tall man
before her. The droplets of tears hitting her pure white silk dress,
causing the beautiful gown to become somewhat transparent on certain
spots of her thighs. She was sitting with on her legs, fingers
clenching the expensive fabric and wrinkling them. Dark, chocolate
brown locks were cascading down her back in soft, subtle beach curls.
Matching chocolate brown eyes were filled with innocence and
desperation. He frowned at her and spoke, his deep, monotone voice
resounding throughout the entire large, empty room.
“You've served your
propose in life already, there is no more reason for you to extend
your stay. You will remain here.”
The woman closed her eyes,
allowing for the tears to fall more freely and unrestrained onto the
white floors. She stood to her feet, bowing slightly before the man
and turned on heel. She did not walk, for the life of her, she ran
as fast as she could from the room. Her head was lowered in defeat,
the soft sounds of her silver heels connecting with the marble floor
as she quickly left. Quiet, muffled sobs tore free from her throat.
The large doors to the room closed with a soft slam.
The man sighed tiredly, and
rose from his spot. His eyes glanced at the figure, who was leaning
against the farthest pillar in the shadows. It only took a few
seconds for the silhouette to move, each time coming a bit closer to
where the tall man stood. He felt a little tense when he had
recognized the figure, but soon enough, relaxed when he noted there
was no hostile aura around the smaller, younger man standing in front
of him, unlike the first time they had met when deadly aura flooded
the room.
“For how long have you
been listening?”
The young man in front of
him was dressed somewhat similar, in colors, to the woman who was
there moments ago. His attire, a rather expensive looking suit, was
pure white with pale blue trimmings. His unruly, spiky blonde hair
that seemed never to be tameable always struck the powerful man as
odd. It seemed as if nothing as able to hold it down, much like how
people never seemed to be able to hold down the man who was the owner
of said hair.
“With all due respect, my
king, why not allow the young miss to visit her friends one last
time?”
“She has already grown too
attached to them. Permitting her to do so will only prolong her
suffering. She is loved by them, I have noted. But she no longer has
a purpose in their world. She is not one of them any longer. In time,
she will learn to accept the fact. Just like we all have.”
“Cutting her cold turkey
is the best way, sire? Didn't you allow all of us to say our final
farewells to our loved ones?” The blonde haired man asked, his tone
was somewhat indifferent...cold...detached. “It Is only fair that
she get that same chance, don't you agree?”
“As I have said, she is
already to attached. Why shall I allow her to go back and say her
final goodbyes, if she is already tempted to stay there?”
“For closure. To let them
know that she is fine.”
Deep blue sapphire eyes
clashed with unwavering dark orange. It felt like an eternity before
the gray haired man sighed and turned away from the younger man, to
look out the huge glass window. With his back toward the blonde, and
his gaze focusing on the garden outside where the woman had run to,
he spoke again,
“You seem persistent on
allowing this woman, you barely even know, to get closure with her
loved ones.”
“It is only fair.” The
blonde insisted, moving to the window to view what the old man was
viewing. Unbeknownst to him, the graying man beside him was watching
is movements and expressions carefully. Again, the higher ranking
male sighed and walked away from the shorter male.
“So be it. Inform the
young woman that she has till sunset to make any amends or parting
words with her family and friends. For by sunset, she will no longer
be able to visit them as she pleases. Should she become reluctant to
leave, then I take it that you know what must be done.”
“Of course, your
highness.”
“Good, then do what is
expected of you.”
…
When he had approached the
long, brown haired woman, she was seated underneath the magnolia tree
in the center of the garden. She had not acknowledged his presence
yet, as she was curled into a ball, arms tightly wrapped around her
shins and drawing them as close as she can to her chest. She was
shaking slightly, either from the cold breeze that was settling or
her uncontrolled crying, he noted. He could hear her speaking to
herself, but just didn't know what was being said, as the words were
far too muffled for him to even comprehend. Knowing that she'd
probably remain in that form until she felt comforted, he cleared his
throat to alert her that he was there.
Innocent, brown eyes met his
own burning orange ones. They held so much innocence, so much
loyalty... sincerity...love. He turned away from the younger person,
and looked over the horizon. He estimated that it was sometime
around noon, uncertain as there was no way to tell time in their
current place. When the blonde had felt her stare on his back, he
glanced at her from the corner of his eyes.
“The King, has asked me to
deliver this message to you, young miss. He has told me to inform you
that you have until sundown to make any amends and part with your
loved ones.”
“The King, as kind as he
may be, wouldn't allow it, no matter how much I plead with him. How
do I know if you are telling the truth? For all I know, you may be
trying to get me into a truck load of trouble.”
“Then why not try anyways?
See if I am telling the truth. Leave and come back here before the
given time, and we shall see, if I am lying or not.”
“I do not believe you.”
“Shall I go with you then?
Perhaps you are afraid of going by yourself and need someone such as
myself to escort you there and back?” She gave him a challenging
stare and snorted in an unlady like behavior, causing the male to
raise a brow at her action, “Oh? Have the woman in recent years not
been taught proper manners?”
“Go with me then. If I
leave and return by sundown, I do not wish to be punished by myself.
You, who may or may not be deceiving me, should come and accept
whatever the punishment may be.”
“I shall ask the king for
permission of my leave. Wait here, young miss, I will be back shortly
after.”
…
The duo walked into the
family grounds cautiously, careful not to be spotted by anyone in the
area. Seeing that the path to the headquarters was clear, the man
and woman walked at a casual pace, being cautious not to trigger any
security systems. The woman, summoning enough energy, paused before
punching a series of numbers into the key pad and unlocking the
front, heavily durable door. It creaked slightly as it was pushed
open, and revealed an elaborate building interior. Glass chandeliers
were suspended from the ceiling and lit the large entrance way. Red
carpet lined the stairs and covered most of the black marble that
decorated the floors. All in all, it was undoubtably a very costly
headquarters, worth hundreds of thousands. Instead of it looking like
it belonged to a notorious (or not-so notorious, in this case) crime
organization, it looked as it if were owned by some rich,
sophisticated socialite who had no qualms in spending so much money.
“How interesting, for a
family of the mafia, to live in a high class place such as this.”
“Please, do not refer to
them as being in the mafia. Their current boss is working diligently
to restore what once was a vigilante group that was established by
the founder of the family.”
“Oh? And how is that
process coming? No doubt it is a struggle for the young boss, there
is so many years of countless errors caused by the founder's
predecessors before him.”
“I thought you were merely
going to wait outside while I make my amends.”
“Has it not come across
your mind, that if I leave your sight, I may go back without you, and
leaving you with all the punishment?”
“You don't seem like the
type to do such a thing.” The woman said with honesty. “From what
I can see in your eyes, as of this moment, is curiosity. You want to
know many things about how my famiglia is doing, yes? So there is no
way you'd leave without even seeing for yourself, correct?”
Square on the nose. The
blonde man looked at her with an unreadable expression, before he
sighed and cleared his throat. “Assuming what you say is true, I
wonder how much of that you, yourself, believe is true.” He paused
and continued shortly after the odd silence that descended upon them,
“Now hurry and make amends before you waste your chance by chatting
with me the entire time.”
The brunette woman did not
need to be told twice, as she soon took off down the halls of the
manor. The sounds of her heels click clacking echoed through the
long corridors. She paid no attention to the blonde haired man
following her, her focus completely being on seeing her friends once
more. The woman stopped before a door, slightly panting and out of
breath. She could hear the voice of all her friends, in that one
room. Hesitating slightly, she lifted a shaky hand to push the door,
but instead of finding the power to do so, her hand hovered over the
wooden door. The male, sensing her uneasiness, despite her earlier
enthusiasm, then proceeded to open the door for her.
Utter silence. The voices
had stopped and several pairs of eyes were resting on her very being.
No sooner had the door opened, the large group of people, after
recovering from the shock, rushed forward to the brunette. Some were
shouting words of joy, and others uttering threats. The closest one,
a strawberry haired blonde, opened her arms in a warm, welcoming
embrace,...only to pass through the figure of the one she intended to
hug. The long haired girl stared at her arms in disbelief and back at
the saddened brunette.
“Haru...chan?”
Haru, the brown haired
woman, clad in a white silk gown, looked at her with a pain filled
gaze. “I'm sorry”
“I-I...I don't understand.
Ha-Haru-chan...why can I go through you?”
“Long story short?
Remember that night, 4 months ago, Kyoko-chan? During the unexpected
raid on our famiglia's territory by our enemies. That night...in the
hospital...I died.” Haru explained, her voice barely above a
whisper.
“W-What? You didn't die,
H-Haru-chan, you were sa-saved by the doctors” Kyoko said, her eyes
wide with shock. “You were with us up un-until a few da-days ago.”
“It was a few days ago,
everyone, that my time to remain here with you all, ended. Why I kept
vanishing and reappearing in the oddest of places.” The brunette
said, “I truly wished that I was alive again. To hold you guys
again. To hug and to greet and to cherish my moments with you all. I
think...I think that was what kept me alive. Kept me coming back.”
“Then, why? Why are you
leaving us, Haru?” A rusty pink haired woman snapped, not accepting
of what was currently going on.
“If I remain here...I'll
become a wandering spirit. My most treasured memories of you all
will vanish, and it will be as though my soul is lifeless. Forever a
wandering, emotionless spirit.” Haru answered, “I wanted to stay
with you all. But...since my passing...I've finally begun to
understand why the king was so desperate in making me stay. He knew
that my memories would fade away if I continued to remain on earth.”
“Haru, who is this 'king'?
Is he pressuring you to-” The dark haired swordsman was cut off by
Haru raising her hand.
“Please, everyone, let us
all just enjoy our last moments together.” She smiled sadly, and
glanced over her shoulder. The blonde haired male who had
accompanied her was hidden from the others' sights. But, she could
feel him watching their every move. “Until sundown, let's make the
best of our lives.”
…
Haru strolled the gardens
slowly, eyes were swollen and her cheeks tear stained. It was only a
few minutes ago, that her time was up and she had left her famiglia
for good. They had finally parted ways, and she watched as the gate
closed on her, and hopelessly continued to witness heavy chains and
locks descend from the sky and encase the door in its bindings. She
was sealed there now. No way of ever communicating with her friends.
But she had her memories.
Their laughter, their voice, their appearances, their smell...their
everything. She was glad she would be able to remember them, to be
able to remember them. She picked that over choosing to stay and
losing all of the memories they shared together. It hurt.
Emotionally more than physically, it stung like a thousand bees. One
day, when their time has come, which hopefully wasn't too soon (much
like her own), they will meet again in this world.
That didn't stop the sadness
she felt in her heart. She was alone in this world. Those who she
loved that had passed away years ago were in other places of that
world, and she had yet to find and contact them. There was no one to
hold her and tell her the things that she wanted to hear. She would
look at the crowds below and near, and feel jealous that they had
seemed to find someone who would help them bare the pain, the burden.
“Haru-san.”
“Stranger-san.” The
blonde looked at her strangely and gestured for her to follow. As he
was one of the only few who even talked to her, she mindlessly
followed the male. He had walked down several winded, twisted roads
before approaching an oak door and walking into the building without
even knocking. Haru glanced around and noted the 6 pairs of eyes
that seemed to be looking over her. Murmurs were exchanged across the
room and she looked to find the man who had brought her there.
“What is the meaning of
bringing her here?” A platinum blonde asked, his piercing gaze
focused solely on the brunette. She didn't flinch though, she held
her ground and glared right back.
“She has no where to go
yet. I have decided to let her stay with us, in the mean time.
Please prepare a room for her, Knuckle, Daemon.” The dark haired
males didn't question the blonde and merely nodded at his request and
left.
“This is not a charity
organization” The other blonde was ignored.
“Asari, Lampo, please see
to it that the chefs prepare a welcoming dinner tonight.” Much like
their dark haired friend before them, they didn't question their
orders before leaving. “Alaude, G...” Before he could say
anything else, the remaining two were long gone.
“Stranger-san...why am I
here?”
“Your friends,...until
their time has come, stay here with us.” He looked somewhat
uncomfortable as he continued, “You may have to wait a long time.
Instead of waiting alone, wait here with us.”
“Why are you helping me?
We haven't even known each other for too long, we've only met today.”
Haru said, clearly unsure of what was happening. The man turned to
her.
“You are a Vongola. And as
one of our kin, it is perfectly normal to worry for you, and want to
look after you. That, is how the original Vongola were, despite our
outward behaviors.”
“...Stranger-san...thank
you...”
“I haven't even introduced
myself to you properly, young miss. I am Giotto, the Vongola Primo.”
The brunette's jaw dropped.
Sure, she remembered seeing him when Tsuna had fought against
Byakuran, but it wasn't up close and clear. The blonde merely
chuckled at her reaction before walking away,
“Welcome, Miura, Haru.”

.
…
Okie, that's the second
one-shot I've ever written. Quite lengthy compared to my first,
Haru. Well, what can I say as of now...I did
warn you guys that this would be somewhat of a supernatural
fiction. And to answer any question regarding Haru, yes, in this
fiction, she had passed away. The other realm that she now resides
in...picture something somewhat like the Soul Society from Bleach.
Now, why were the Vongola 1st guardians there if their
wills reside inside of the Vongola rings?...Ask them that xD
I dunno myself, though I
should. Let's just say its for the sake of this fiction ;)
Oh, your probably also
wondering why Haru was now okay to leave her friends behind, if in
the beginning she was so eager to rejoin them. In the story, she was
finally starting to understand that the king was merely trying to
help her out. Giotto could've also told her why the king was so
insistent on making her stay.
Anyways, thank you for
taking the time and reading this fiction. Again, sorry for
butchering the characters and making them OOC and such. I don't mind
constructive criticism, but please no flames. Thanks again :)
